CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS

In Žilina you can visit three galleries – Považská Gallery of Arts in Žilina, M-Gallery and Plusminuszero gallery (± 0,0 Gallery). Považská Gallery of Arts in Žilina rooms contain a permanent exhibition of works by Vincent Hložník. M-Gallery deals with artworks sale in a substantial extent. Plusminuszero gallery (± 0,0 Gallery) is presenting today´s visual culture.

In Žilina, there are three museums. Považská Gallery of Arts in Žilina has detached expositions of regional character, together with tinker´s craft collection, Museum of Jewish culture with exhibition of Judaic collection and the first private museum exhibition ''Lombardini´s house''.

Two theatres in Žilina look forward to you visiting - the Town Theatre Žilina, which is aimed primarily for adults, and the oldest professional puppet theatre in Slovakia - the Žilina Puppet Theatre.

The only musical institution dedicated to  fans  of classical music is the State Chamber Orchestra of  Žilina.

Readers from and outside Žilina can quench their "reading thirst" in the District Library in Žilina.

The Multiplex City Cinemas in Mirage Shopping Centre and Cinemax in the Max Shopping Centre  welcome not only film fans.

Other cultural institutions in Žilina are the  House of Matica slovenská, the Regional Cultural Centre, the Cultural Centre Stanica Žilina-Záriečie and Považská Observatory in Žilina.

In Žilina, three leisure time centres work there, Leisure time centre Spektrum, Leisure time centre Strom and Leisure time centre Žirafa. They create area for children, youth and adults, in order to actively fill their time, provide for their education, relax, but also meetings with friends.
